Linkage Policy

This policy governs the establishment of external links on the official website of the American Legion Auxiliary  East Palo Alto Unit 472 (“ALA Unit 472”).  For purposes of this policy, an external link is a hyperlink from ALA Unit 472's website to a website maintained by another party.  Neither ALA Unit 472's website nor the external links on such website constitute a forum for expressive activity by members of the public.

Rather, the purpose of ALA Unit 472's website and external links is to provide information about programs and activities related to ALA Unit 472. Providing external links is in no way an endorsement or recommendation by ALA Unit 472 of any website maintained by another party or the information therein; these sites are not part of ALA Unit 472's official website. ALA Unit 472 reserves the right to deny requests for external links or delete existing external links.

Criteria for Considering Links for the ALA Unit 472's Official Website:

  • Information regarding officials, services or attractions related to ALA Unit 472;
  • Recognition of an organization that is a strategic partner of the ALA Unit 472, has co-sponsored a project with ALA Unit 472 or has received funding from ALA Unit 472;
  • Recognition of official sites and affiliates of the American Legion Auxiliary, American Legion, and local, state and federal governments/ governmental agencies;
  • Timeliness and accuracy of factual material;
  • Inclusion of META variables - Author, Keywords and Description – where META refers to protocol and format established so information may be exchanged between different data sources; and
  • Inclusion of easy links back to ALA Unit 472's website.

Prohibitions:

  • Links to personal websites are prohibited.
  • Links to commercial websites (except as allowed by the above criteria) are prohibited.
  • Links to sites associated with, sponsored by or serving a candidate for elected office, any political party or organization supporting or seeking to defeat any candidate from elected office or ballot proposal.
  • Links to websites with obscene or objectionable images or text are prohibited.

Privacy Policy

When you visit this site our Web server automatically collects your IP address.  This address does not identity you individually; it is your computer's address, which tells other computers where to send data.  We do not make IP addresses available to anyone outside our Information Technology staff.  We use the addresses to help diagnose problems with the server and to compile statistics on usage.  ALA Unit 472 does not retain IP addresses in the ordinary course of business.
